This is a great list! Indie web is something I've just started discovering and I really love it! I especially like the culture around it, everyone is super passionate.

It's quite an interesting space! I have a bit of mixed feelings (mainly due to the fact that I'm a fandom-centred person, and what I'm looking for sadly isn't that present for multiple reasons there + sometimes people are just mean towards those who use social media) but overall on my own it's a nice place! You do need to dig deeper into it sometimes.

Also YESSSSSSSS, in the last year I've developed such a love and appreciation for small/indie web, even more so after tossing a lot of my socmed accounts, so BIG AGREE!!

Yeah of course!

(Should've probably mentioned this is about trans men since I'm a guy, I cannot speak on trans women)

There's this general consensus that you "shouldn't write trans men as small bottoms who are physically not strong or dress more femininely, that's fetishising" that comes from some groups of people, sometimes younger trans people and people who aren't even trans, while kinda ignoring that sometimes, trans people will write the characters the way they see fit and might represent their experience more. This goes for both original work and when people write headcanons for already existing characters (which is what I do the most). It kinda goes hand in hand with 'appealing to non-queer people' where anything that isn't squeaky clean is seen as bad representation.

Obviously depends on what sort of places online you go, but I do see this a lot. Meanwhile, I do tend to write in the line of that description (hell, I find myself in it a lot, especially cause due to my living situation, legally transitioning isn't much of an option right now or even ever, depending on how things go) and while my stuff is overall kinda nishe, it goes against how a lot of people think trans characters should be written.

I’m not much in the writing/trans stories sphere, so I haven’t particularly encountered that sentiment, but yeah checks out. Average overcorrection in response to real fetishisation and misrepresentation. I see more “don’t write fem x masc gay couples”, which I completely understand the fatigue for, but hard and fast rules in writing never work out, especially when they’re so vague.

I don't have any of my own that are published, ready (most are wip or not written yet, I like taking my time with them) and I don't really have much recommendations since idv as a fandom (the only one I actively write for) doesn't really have much when it comes to ships I'm familiar with. Hopefully, I will have one of the fics in plan done by the end of the year since it's a one-shot.

writing events can be so much fun ahh! especially the more community oriented it is :D #10 is reminding me that it might be fun to pick up my switch lite and play sky again too....

Would recommend! I'm having a lot of fun now, it's anniversary time and new season starts next Monday!The animated show should also start from that time too, it will be in the game!
